Chael Sonnen has stepped up to take on the light-heavyweight champ on this short notice, but Jones stated “I’m not fighting Chael Sonnen on eight days’ notice”. Being that Jones is the champ, some believe he should be able to fight anyone no matter who it is, but put yourself in his shoes…you have the belt…you are the UFC light-heavyweight champion of the world…you have the world on your shoulders…all eyes on you…and this is your JOB…this is how your provide for yourself...fighting is not just a bar scrap, it’s a sport. There is strategy behind every fight. Jones prepared for Henderson, not Chael. He should have some time to create a game plan on how to fight Chael. The only argument is that Chael and Hendo are both wrestlers with a similar game plan.
Jones will now fight Lyoto Machida on Sept. 22 at the event that was supposed to be UFC 152, but is now called UFC 151. However, Jones vs. Machida won’t be the only title bout on this card; Demetrious Johnson will take on Joseph Benavidez for the flyweight title. Also, Michael Bisping will square off with Brian Stann in middleweight bout that should be filled with fireworks. The new UFC 151 will be held at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
